Blue Hill Broadband Report
The locally developed and Updated (March 2021) Blue Hill Broadband Report was created to more accurately identify wired Internet access in Blue Hill and provide basic facts about the Internet and how they relate to the Town's wired infrastructure. The document attempts to clarify what we have, do not have and why and it captures some key shortfalls in the town's DSL capacity, and why they will not be corrected.
Changes are occurring in how providers look at legacy systems. CCI recently changed how they expect their internet market to look and are focusing on fiber. Others like Spectrum are not shifting fully to fiber retaining their networks with their traditional copper (Coax) medium. How we are affected and when, can be in our control were - if we are proactive - in addressing the issues. The 25 February 2022 NTIA Award is an effect of just that!
